An AAAA record is an IP within the freshly launched IPv6 format and it consists of eight groups of hexadecimal numbers, as opposed to the IPv4 IPs, which include 4 groups of digits in between 1 and 255. An illustration of an IPv6 address is 3014:0d43:23a3:2354:1320:8f3b:2635:3254 and in this format the sheer number of IPs that may be created is many times larger than the number of the IPv4 addresses. Each and every domain has its hosting server IP as a record and in essence, that record informs the domain address where the website for it is. Depending on the system which the company uses, the record is going to be called A (IPv4) or AAAA (IPv6). Changing this record allows you to host your site with one company and your email messages with a different one, so if you decide to use such a redirection to forward a domain name to a server that uses an IPv6 address, you will need to set up an AAAA record for it.

AAAA Records in Shared Hosting

If you are using a service with a third-party provider and you've got to set up an AAAA record to forward a domain address or a subdomain to their system, you are going to be able to do that with just a couple of clicks through the Hepsia CP, provided with all of our shared hosting plans. After you log in, you have to visit the DNS Records section in which you will find all records for every domain name or subdomain hosted within the account. Creating a new record is as simple as clicking on a button, choosing the type from a drop-down options menu, that is to be AAAA in this case, and then inserting the value, or the actual IPv6 address, in a text box. As an added option you can modify the TTL value (Time To Live), that outlines how long the record is functioning after you modify it or erase it in the future. The new AAAA record is going to be functioning in just an hour and will propagate globally a few hours later, so the hostname for which you have created it will start redirecting to the new hosting server.
